Dallol, Ethiopia moon landscape
Dallol is a volcano located in the Danakil Depression in the northern part of the Afar triangle of Ethiopia. It rises gently to 60 m above the salt plain. The summit crater, about 100 m diameter, has active hydro thermal features include diverse brightly colored hot springs that are very dramatic in appearance.
The last Eruption of Dallol volcano was in 1926 (black smoke was seen in Jan 2011).
Dallol currently holds the official record for high annual average temperature of 35°C! In average!
